SUNDAY SCHOOL VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Cindy Vogel forwards devotions from time to time to staff members at GSLC, and one came to my inbox as I was about to type a request for Sunday School teachers. It talked about the parable from Matthew 25: 14 – 30 where the man buried his talents because he didn’t think he had enough to make a difference. The parable teaches us that it doesn’t matter if we are given a lot or a little in life, what matters is what we are going to do with what we’ve got. “Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms,” 1 Peter 4:10.

So, on that note, think about 5 weeks.....It’s not a lot of time out of your schedule, but it is some time that could make the difference to many of our younger members at GSLC. Look at our Sunday School sign up in the narthex and find a unit that interests you – Rotation or Preschool and sign up. If you have kids in our program, it’s good to teach at least once. Our classes can’t happen without teachers, so think about Peter’s words and look at where your talents lie. We have lots of different centers – science, story telling, cooking, art, movies, games and of course, our little ones. One of these could be a good fit. Our theme this year is “Be a Rock.” The image of the rock is seen many places in the Bible – the Ten Commandments were carved on stone, Jesus called Peter his rock, a rock was placed in front of Jesus’ tomb, and our preschool children even sing a song about the parable about "building your house on a rock."

If you are willing to help, please call Leslie (521-2113 ext 205) or click here to-->email Leslie.

NURSERY NEWS

We are happy to announce our new nursery care worker, Michelle Seifert. Michelle is a member of GSLC and has worked in childcare for years. She loves children and is so excited to work in our nursery. The nursery will be open Sunday mornings and the Wednesday evenings for music practice and Lenten services. We are still looking for someone to work at the 11:00 service so that Michelle can attend late service. It can be a member or nonmembêr. If a member is interested in working, we could schedule work a few Sundays per month. See Leslie if you are interested.

AGES OF CHILDREN ELIGIBLE FOR THE NURSERY

In order to keep the nursery safe for our youngest members, we ask that Sunday School aged children attend the service with their parents. We love having them in the nursery, however they get very involved in their play and don’t always notice the little ones crawling on the floor. We have color packets available at the Usher’s Stand to keep children entertained. Therefore, in order to keep our nursery safe for our youngest members, we are asking that Sunday School aged children attend the service with their parents.

Of course on LOGOS/music practice nights (and special events), older children are welcome since they are not old enough to participate in those activities. Rose has been working hard to come up with some activities to make the nursery fun for the older children on those nights. We appreciate all her time and effort. Thank you for understanding our new policy.
